I’m Matt Hyatt and I am an entrepreneur. I own an IT services business that I started in 1995 from my apartment near Atlanta, Georgia. While my business is growing fast right now, mine is not a story of overnight success or meteoric growth right out of the gates. No, my path to success has been long, slow, and sometimes painful (yet absolutely, 100%, worth the effort).
I started this project because I want to share what I’ve learned while building my own business with other leaders and entrepreneurs. Too many of us attempt to figure everything out on our own, painstakingly and stubbornly struggling to blaze new paths forward through briers and brambles. We often fail to see that many others have gone before us and found simpler, safer, and faster ways to get where we want to go. By sharing what I’ve learned, along with the experiences and wisdom of others, I hope to help others reach success more quickly – with much less pain – than I did.
I will focus primarily on three areas of interest: entrepreneurship, leadership, and financial success. In the United States, nearly anyone can start a business and become an entrepreneur. My guess is that it’s easier to start a business here than just about any other place in the world, but no matter where your business happens to be, leading people and managing money are required skills that must be learned.
Let me say that last bit again in a different way, because it’s important.
To run a successful business, entrepreneurs must learn to become effective leaders and make wise financial decisions.
There are no born leaders nor natural millionaires. We must learn to lead people and manage money for our organizations to survive and thrive. Whether we learn through watching, reading, listening, or by years of trial and error is up to us. However, none of us will get very far in our businesses without dedication to our leadership and financial education.
