February 1967 Newsweek
Mar 27, 2012 at 08:25PM | Matt Hyatt My 94 year old aunt was clearing out some old items in storage and came across an issue of Newsweek from February, 1967. It turns out that my uncle was a big Lakers fan and he'd carefully stored this particular issue because it featured future Lakers player and rising star Lew Alcindor, now better known as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Those who know me may have discovered that I don't follow sports much, but some have figured out that I do enjoy gawking at cars from time to time. I got a kick out of some of the car advertisements in this old magazine, so I thought I'd share them here. Enjoy!

Talking about bringing back some memories. I was 15 years old when this was issue appeared. I remember watching Alcindor play on TV. Also, the cars. I remember in those days the new models always were showcased in the fall of the year. Every dealer would have new cars in their showrooms but they would be covered. I remember too one dealer in my hometown would have a big chili supper and then they would have the unveiling of the new models. Good times in a simpler era.
